Welcome to Episode 39-The Butcher Baker Part 1. Hello everyone, I am your host and welcome to MBP. Thank you as always for tuning in. This Episode takes place In Alaska in the early 80’s. What happens when bodies start to litter in the Knik River? Is there an active serial killer living amongst the residents of Anchorage? This serial killer Hunted, Raped, Murdered, and used horrific and gruesome strategies to get the Women to compile with his sexual depravities. His name is Robert Hansen Dubbed in the media the Butcher Baker. Alaska was a place that offered an enticing lifestyle in the 80’s with the opening of the Trans-Alaska pipeline. The Trans-Alaska Pipeline attracted great employment opportunities for families or people trying to escape life in other metropolitan areas that were congested with mundane routines. The money was also promising, and this attracted many to venture into the seedy parts of Alaska. Alaska was a state that was more tolerant and less judgmental. Women who flocked to Alaska were sex workers. The young girls are lured with a promise of money, room and board, a hot bed, warm meals, working, having an income, and a lot of clients. Too many young girls who had rough lives gravitated towards Alaska to start anew. Many came with different identities because Alaska permitted this change. I want this episode the women who fought to catch a killer in their mist. To many residents of Anchorage Robert Hanson owned a bakery which many law enforcement in Anchorage frequented. The man was a family-oriented person. He had a wife and two small children. He was a member of a church congregation. This man was bullet proof, or was he? In this episode two women one by the name of Cindy Paulson (Survivor) and Maxine Farrell (Anchorage Homicide Division Investigator). Women are rarely spoken about in history unless they did something horrific. These two women’s work is highlighted to demonstrate how they were persistent, resilient, and never buckled in the face of evil. These two women deserve to be mentioned for the work they did in capturing a serial killer who killed 17 women. How can a man with a long rap sheet evade law enforcement for a decade?
